We are moving into an exciting time as our culture has become more and more proactive when it comes to health. Especially in our local communities here in Colorado! Not long ago, massage was perceived by most as a luxury reserved for the wealthy. We are no longer satisfied with going to the doctor and receiving prescriptions and pills. We are asking questions and looking for answers beyond our advances in technology and quite simply, returning to our roots. Locally raised and organic food has found a demand, finding time to exercise and enjoy the beautiful outdoors, and investing in manual therapies such as movement therapy, physical therapy and massage therapy have become the norm. Here at Evergreen Massage, we are committed to continued education, staying on top of the latest research and also valuing the roots and history of those who have gone before us. It’s exciting to be a part of history that is combining the advances in technology with the ancient truths of our ancestors. As you continue on your health journey and want to give massage therapy a shot, you may have some questions. I will try my best to address some common concerns!
What can I expect for my first session?
Upon booking a session you will receive an email confirmation as well as a brief online intake form. Please arrive a few minutes early for your first session. After your therapist reviews your medical history and there are no contradictions your therapist will show you the treatment room as well as give you a short verbal interview to discuss your hopes and goals for the session. You may just want to relax and let stress fade away or you may have a nagging pain pattern you are hoping to resolve. Make sure to communicate this with your therapist as well as your preferences for pressure. We want to customize each session to maximize your experience. Your therapist will then give you privacy to disrobe and get covered and comfy on the table. Your therapist will knock and ask if you are ready before re-entering the room. Your session will last anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes. When the session is over, your therapist will again leave the room and give you privacy to get dressed. They will discuss with any postural or soft tissue concerns they observed as well as stretches and exercise you may be able to do at home to complement the healing benefits of massage. Make sure to stay hydrated after a massage and to avoid rigorous activities for up to 24 house as you body may be adjusting to soft tissue changes. It is common to feel some soreness after a deep tissue or sports massage. This should not be concerning but you should never feel in pain. Make sure to follow up with you therapist if you have any questions or concerns that come up for you or if you would like us to work alongside with your health care team to help you achieve optimal results.
What qualifications does my therapist have?
Massage therapy is not regulated in every state. Here in CO you must complete a minimum of a 500 hour course and pass the national board exam to get licensed through DORA. All of our therapists have current licensure through the state of CO and have a minimum of 2 years experience as well as annual continued education. We have combined experience of over 40 years and are committed as a staff to continued education through research and hands on trainings.
I’m uncomfortable being naked on the table, do I have to be?
We always tell our clients to disrobe to their comfort level. We work with the full range of folks, fully clothed to those fully nude. The important thing to remember is that we always respect your privacy! Our draping is professional and secure. We uncover only the area of the body that is being worked with.
How often should I get massage?
Everyday! Wouldn’t that be nice?! Massage therapy can get expensive and it really depends on your goals. We have many clients that have made massage a weekly health habit while others come in a few times a year. In general, I tell clients once a month would be a good goal. It is often enough to see ongoing results and health benefits but won’t break the bank. Others are dealing with an injury or sever pain pattern may come 3x in a week to try and nip the pain pattern in the bud. We can help you come up with a plan that meets your needs. We also sell packages to help make consistent massage a bit more affordable.
What is all the rage about CBD? What are the benefits of adding it to a massage?
Think of CBD like any other supplement you might take. In it’s simplest terms, CBD attaches to cannabinoid receptors in you cells to help your body create it’s own anti inflammatory response naturally. The implications are that over time your body becomes more and more efficient with it’s processes including but not limited, cell regeneration, digestion, muscle repair, joint health, hormone regulation and so much more. At Evergreen Massage, we use Conquest CBD which is contains 0% THC (the intoxicating component of the mariquana plant). This allows them to use higher concentrations of CBD. We use a 2000mg pain salve as well as infused massage lotion to achieve either pain relief or extreme relaxation.
